§ Mrs. Renée Shortasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he has any plans to allocate extra resources to encourage more children to remain at school after 16 years.
§ Dr. Boyson:As announced by the Prime Minister on 27 July 1981, the Government are planning an additional £60 million—£50 million for England—in 1982–83 to allow for increased numbers of 16 to 19-year-olds to stay on in full-time education in school or college, particularly in areas of high unemployment.
