asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is his latest estimate of his Department's expenditure for 1981–82 in support of employment and in support of public sector industry and private sector industry, respectively.

Mr. Younger:

The details of the latest estimate of my Department's expenditure for 1981–82 in support of employment and in support of public sector industry and private sector industry are contained in the Supply Estimates 1981–82, Class XV, Scotland (HC 190–XV) published on 10 March 1981. The relevant Votes and subheads are Class XV,1: Class XV,2: Class XV,3 (excluding expenditure by the Scottish Development Agency on environmental and derelict land clearance schemes): Class XV,4: Class XV,5: and A1, A2, E1, F1, F2, G1, H1,I1, J1 and L1 in Class XV,6. The amounts involved are £98 million, £13 million and £254 million, respectively.

In addition, other Departments have expenditure in Scotland in support of employment.
