§ Mr. Fieldasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer (1) if he will list the number of surtax payers or higher-rate taxpayers for each year since 1945; and if he will also present this data as a percentage of all taxpayers;
(2) if he will list the number of higher-rate taxpayers for each year since 1978–79.
