§ Sir George YoungNo official approval is required for initiating tenant management co-operatives, but I352W understand that two such co-operatives were initiated by housing associations on their own estates as part of a pilot scheme by the Housing Corporation in 1977. Two secondary co-operatives, which are registered housing associations, were involved in the development of five management co-operatives on local authority estates which were approved in 1980.

Friend the Minister for Housing and Construction has since approved agreements for 10 cooperatives under the Housing Act 1980.
