§ 48. Dr. Mawhinneyasked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether his Department, the regional health authorities or the district health authorities will be responsible for providing the funds to make redundancy payments to those staff, surplus to requirements, whose contracts the new district health authorities have been required to assume from the existing area health authorities.
§ Dr. VaughanRedundancy payments will be met out of their existing resources by the health authority holding the employee's contract when the employee leaves the service. Approximately 40 per cent. of the statutory redundancy payment is recoverable from the Government's central redundancy fund.
