HC Deb 23 November 1981 vol 13 c310W
Dr. Edmund Marshall

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he will take steps to ensure that, when a handicapped person is found by his Department's medical advisers to be fit for limited work, every attempt is made to find that person sheltered employment under the arrangements for the handicapped.

Mr. Alison

I have been asked to reply.

The Manpower Services Commission's disablement resettlement officers and other staff at jobcentres and employment offices seek to help all unemployed disabled people to find suitable work in open or sheltered employment, including those referred to them by the Department of Health and Social Security medical advisers as being fit for light work.
