asked the Secretary of State for Social Services when he expects the Office of Population, Censuses and Surveys monitor containing the estimate of New Commonwealth and Pakistan ethnic population at June 1980 to be published; and whether he will secure that these estimates are again published after an interval of no more than 11 months, as in 1977.

The mid-1980 estimate of the population of New Commonwealth and Pakistani ethnic origin is expected to be published on 1 December 1981 in an OPCS monitor. The compilation of these estimates depends on the availability of detailed annual data about births and deaths as well as net migration. The estimates are published as soon as possible after the necessary information becomes available.
