Mrs. Chalker

Any deficit emerging on the day-to-day operation of the national insurance fund would be one of the factors taken in account under the annual review of contributions required by section 120 of the Social Security Act 1975. This review is currently taking place and our conclusions, including the Government Actuary's report on the finances of the fund, will be laid before Parliament shortly.
