HC Deb 19 November 1981 vol 13 c232W
Mr. Philip Holland

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food when he last carried out an overall review of the need for retaining unchanged both the Consumers' Committee for England and Wales under the Agricultural Marketing Acts and the Consumers' Committee for Great Britain under the Agriculture Marketing Acts; whether he considered alternative existing sources of advice; and what conclusions he reached.

Mr. Peter Walker

In accordance with procedures being adopted in all Government Departments, I have reviewed all the advisory bodies for which I am responsible during the past year, including the consumers' committees under the Agricultural Marketing Act 1958. Alternative existing sources of advice were considered in the review. It was concluded that the consumers' committees should continue to carry out their present functions.
