§ Mr. Tilleyasked the Lord Privy Seal if he will make a statement on the progress of his discussions with the Governments of the dependent territories on bringing their immigration ordinances into line with the British Nationality Act 1981.
§ Mr. LuceThe Act is still with the printers and it will therefore be several weeks before the Governments of the dependent territories can study in detail the sections which provide for acquisition of British dependent territories citizenship. Once they have done so we shall, as Ministers have indicated in Parliament, formally ask them to review their immigration laws in the light of the provisions of the Act.
