§ Mr. Mortonasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will list each of the voluntary organisations currently receiving grants from his Department under schedule 5 to the Supplementary Benefits Act 1976 for the provision of temporary board and lodging for single homeless people; and if he will specify the amount of grant made to each organisation for each of the years 1979,1980 and the current year.
§ Mrs. ChalkerThe following table lists the voluntary projects which currently receive grants under schedule 5 to the Supplementary Benefits Act 1976—as amended—with the amount of grant approved for the financial year 1981–82 and the amounts paid in each of the two previous financial years. Until November 1980 grants were made by the Supplementary Benefits Commission. In 1980–81 unspent grant which remained at the end of the year because of a shortfall in successive applications was used to make a once-and-for-all allocation of £200 to each project, apart from one project where a reduction in the grant was agreed, and five projects which received more substantial increases which were planned as soon as funds became available.
