§ 27. Mr. McNallyasked the Secretary of State for Employment what fresh proposals he has for arresting the decline in apprenticeships to industry.
§ Mr. Peter MorrisonAs I told my hon. Friend the Member for Fareham (Mr. Lloyd) on 21 July—[Vol. 9, c. 73–74]—the Government are providing a further £9.6 million in 1981–82 and £11 million in 1982–83. This will bring the total to support industry's long term training needs in the current training year to some £50 million. My right hon. Friend expects to make a further statement about skill training in the context of the Government's response to the consultations on "A New Training Initiative" by the turn of the year.
