§ Mr. Alfred Dubsasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will reconsider his refusal to make regulations which would allow admission to the local government superannuation scheme to part-time staff on an optional basis.

Friend has stated that he will make a final decision about these regulations when the Government have decided what action should be taken in the light of the Scott report, which was published last February. Although we have made considerable progress in this direction, I cannot yet say when that stage is likely to be reached.
