§ 21. Mr. Heddleasked the Secretary of State for Trade whether he intends to introduce any new measures in connection with the finding of the National Economic Development Corporation, in its report "Industrial Performance—a review", that too many companies are apathetic towards exports.
§ Mr. Peter ReesThe fact that the United Kingdom exports a greater proportion of its GDP than any other major manufacturing country shows that many companies are committed to exporting. The thrust of the Government's comprehensive range of export services is being maintained, but I have no plans for new measures at present. Government policy is directed to creating the right conditions to enable all firms to compete more effectively at home and abroad.
