HC Deb 13 November 1981 vol 12 c185W
Mr. Rhodes James

asked the Lord Privy Seal if he will set out the action he has taken in connection with the recommendations adopted by the general conference of UNESCO at its 21st session.

Mr. Neil Marten

There are three recommendations:

  1. i. Recommendation concerning the status of the artist;
  2. ii. Recommendation for the safeguarding and preservation of moving images;
  3. iii. Recommendation concerning the international standardisation of statistics on the public financing of cultural activities.

The relevant Government Departments have been advised of the adoption of these recommendations. The Governments of the dependent territories have also been informed of the adoption of these recommendations for such action as they consider necessary. I have arranged for copies of all three recommendations to be placed in the Libraries of both Houses.
