§ Mr. Heddleasked the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) how many households were renting from local authorities and new towns for each of the last 10 years to the latest available date;
(2) how many (i) furnished tenancies, and (ii) unfurnished tenancies there were in England at (a) 1 January 1958 and (b) 1 January 1966 and for each of the last 10 years to the latest available date.
(3) how many households were renting from housing associations for the last 10 years to the latest available date.

The number of households renting from local authorities or new towns is estimated to have increased to 5,090,000 by March 1981.
