Mr. Andrew F. Bennett

asked the right hon. Member for Middlesbrough, as representing the House of Commons Commission, if he will list all the specialist advisers to Select Committees appointed since May 1979; how much in total they have been paid by way of fees; and which of them are retired and which work full time for some institution or body.

The specialist advisers appointed by Select Committees from May 1979 are as set out in the following table. The total sum paid by way of fees is £163,916. I regret that information is not available about the work done by these advisers for other institutions or bodies.
