HC Deb 12 November 1981 vol 12 c174W
19. Mr. Sydney Chapman

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he is satisfied with the agricultural land classification system and how it operates.

Mrs. Fenner

Our recent consultations with interested organisations confirm that the agricultural land classification system is an essential tool for land use planning; that it should continue in its present form; but hat grade 3 land should he divided into a further three subgrades. As more up-to-date soil and climatic information becomes available it will be incorporated, and the resultant maps will cease to be marked "provisional".
