Dr. J. Dickson Mabon

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will give a breakdown of the number out of work in Greenock and Port Glasgow by percentage (a) unemployed for up to one year, (b) unemployed for more than one year but less than two, (c) unemployed for over two years but less than three and (d) unemployed for over three years.

The table below shows unemployment percentage rates for the Greenock/Largs/Port Glasgow travel-to-work area since October 1979. Prior to June 1978 Largs formed an individual travel-to-work ' area, and therefore for October 1974 separate figures are shown for(a) Greenock and Port Glasgow and (b) Largs.
