§ Mr. Ray Powellasked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will make provision for those teenagers who left school in the current year and are still without jobs who prefer to return to school rather than to take a youth opportunities programme course, with full-time education, to improve their knowledge, efficiency, and work experience, particularly in the new technologies; and if he will compensate them financially as if on a youth opportunities programme or on a training opportunities programme course.
§ Mr. Michael RobertsAn additional £3 million will be made available in 1982–83 to enable young people in Wales to stay on in school or college. The Government are keeping arrangements for financial support for 16–19-year-olds in full-time education under review but have no plans at present for changes.
