HC Deb 11 November 1981 vol 12 cc96-7W
15. Mr. Pollock

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what progress has been made towards the settlement of a common fisheries policy; and whether he will make a statement.

Mr. Younger

Useful progress was made in these difficult negotiations at the Council meetings in September and October. This included agreement on marketing and interim structure measures and fishing arrangements in Faroese waters, all of which are of importance to Scottish fishermen.

I very much hope that the Council to be held at the end of this month will see further substantial progress towads a fair and acceptable solution of the remaining issues.
