§ Mr. Parryasked Secretary of State for Industry if he will make a statement on discussions between his Department and Tate and Lyle Ltd. on the future of the refinery building at Love Lane, Liverpool.
§ Mr. MacGregorThere have been a number of discussions between the Department of Industry and Tate and Lyle to explore ways in which the Love Lane site can be redeveloped following the closure of the company's sugar refinery. The company announced on 5 May that it had commissioned a study of the possibilities for small business developments on the site and that it intended to implement a programme of action as soon as suitable opportunities for job creation were indentified. I welcome the company's initiative and wish it every success.
