§ Sir Ian GilmourOur relations with the Government of Lebanon are close and friendly. We have remained in particularly close contact with them during the present crisis. They know our view that respect for Lebanese sovereignty and strengthening the authority of the legitimate Government of Lebanon are essential for a solution to the present crisis.
30. Mr. Russell Johnsonasked the Lord Privy Seal if he will take initiatives in the United Nations to propose international action for the preservation of the integrity of the State of Lebanon.
§ Sir Ian GilmourWe have no plans to do so, nor have the Government of Lebanon asked for action in the United Nations at this time. Negotiations continue for a peaceful solution of various aspects of the crisis in Lebanon. They have our full support and we hope they will succeed.
