§ Mr. MayhewAs regards the unauthorised interception of telecommunications, unlimited fines are already available following conviction on indictment for offences under section 20 of the Telegraph Act 1868, section 11 of the Post Office (Protection) Act 1884 and section 13 of the Theft Act 1968. The penalties available for offences involving the use or manufacture of electronic surveillance devices are being reviewed as part of a current review of the Wireless Telegraphy Acts.
