§ Mr. Gordon Wilsonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is his latest estimate of the number of jobs in Scotland currently supported by the activities of the Scottish Development Agency in (a) manufacturing and (b) service industries.
§ Mr. Alexander FletcherThe information in the form requested by the hon. Member is not available. However, in 1980 over 75,000 employees were housed in factories administered by the agency and companies in which the agency had invested employed about 10,000 people. In addition, small businesses supported by the agency employ over 3,700. The bulk of the jobs involved were in manufacturing industry.
