§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer, in view of the fact that Mr. Yang Tzu Kune founder of the Rendezvous restaurant chain in Soho fled the country to Taiwan owing the Customs and Inland Revenue £4.5 million, if he will initiate proceedings against him with a view to seeking his extradition.
§ Mr. Peter ReesMr. Yang Tzu Kune is not a person known to either of the revenue departments which have, however, identified Mr. William Tchi Hong Young as the founder of the Rendezvous restaurant group. Proceedings have been started against him. Mr. Young failed to answer to his bail and is understood to be in Taiwan. The United Kingdom has no extradition agreement with Taiwan. Moreover, fiscal offences are not normally within the scope of the Extradition Acts.
