§ Mr. BlakerHer Majesty's Government have consistently supported efforts to achieve the peaceful reunification of Korea. The establishment of the necessary confidence and understanding requires direct contacts between the two sides. We welcomed the recent initiative to this end set out in President Chun Doo Hwan's New Year message and reiterated in his inaugural speech on 3 March.
