Mr. Peter Robinson

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how much has been spent by the Department of Manpower Services on employment services for each of the past four years; and if he will give details.

The figures quoted cover wages and salaries, employer's National Insurance contribution and general expenses including telephone, postage, stationery, staff travel and allowances. Accommodation costs are met from th Department of Finance's Vote and are not included, nor are they readily available.

Expenditure by employment services division of the Department of Manpower Services covers direct provision of the Employment Service Office network as well as all administration in regard to redundancy payments, insolvency, shipbuilding redundancy scheme, maternity payments, job release, enterprise Ulster, work permits, forces resettlement and the manpower advisory council.
