§ Mr. Dan Jonesasked the Secretary of State for Social Services, pursuant to the reply to the hon. Member for Burnley on 16 April, Official Report, c. 246, if he will set out the existing methods by which Ministers and officials are made aware of the access problems of disabled people.
§ Mr. RossiMinisters, and those officials in the Department who deal with problems of disability, meet disabled people and representatives of organisations dealing with disability frequently and both see and discuss the ways in which access problems arise and the effect they have. They receive correspondence on the subject and references in newspapers and journals are drawn to their attention. They also have close links with the Committee on Restrictions Against Disabled People, which is due to report by the end of this year.
