§ Mr. Giles ShawAccording to a report from the International Commission on Large Dams, 218 dams with a wall height of over 15 metres and constructed before 1919 were still in use in England and Wales in 1975; 209 of these were in the hands of statutory water undertakings. No central records are kept of inspections made under the Reservoirs (Safety Provisions) Act 1930. This is a matter for district councils and boroughs.
