§ Sir Bernard Braineasked the Secretary of State for Transport what progress is being made with the proposal for a footbridge across the A127 at Rayleigh Weir; and, in view of mounting traffic congestion and the opening of a hypermarket, when an early place for the scheme will be provided in his regional programme.
§ Mr. Kenneth ClarkeA design has been chosen for a footbridge to be sited to the east of the roundabout. Detailed preparation of the scheme will now proceed. Construction is planned to start in the autumn and should be completed in six months.
