§ Mr. FowlerAs I announced in reply to a question from my hon. Friend the Member for Putney (Mr. Mellor) on 17 February—[Vol. 999, c. 85–86]—I have agreed to provide funds for the payment of special supplements, up to £5,500 per man, and available for a maximum period of two months, to registered dock workers in the ports of London and Liverpool who accept severance. The Ports (Financial Assistance) Bill, which will authorise this expenditure, received its Second Reading in the House on 25 March.
