§ Mr. Dykesasked the Secretary of State for Energy what initiatives he plans to take during 1981 through the European Community and the International Energy Agency to obtain further reductions in the use of oil.
§ Mr. Gray[pursuant to his reply, 23 March 1981; c. 211]: The United Kingdom has already reduced its oil consumption to about 40 per cent. of its gross primary energy consumption and is, therefore, playing its full part in meeting the guidelines set by the Council of Energy Ministers in May 1980. At the meeting of International Energy Agency Ministers in December 1980 and more recently at the Council of Energy Ministers of the European Community on 3 March 1981, the United Kingdom confirmed its commitment to control oil consumption. The United Kingdom will continue to work with its partners in the EC and the IEA to achieve this objective.
