§ Mr. FowlerThe road construction and improvement programme in itself contributes to road safety. For example, the motorways and trunk roads expected to be opened in the next three years will save an estimated 2,000 accidents a year. In addition I have allocated aver £½ million for specific grants to organisations promoting road safety, and the Central Office of Information budget includes £3.4 million for road safety publicity.
