asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what was the extent of overseas investment in Northern Ireland industry for each of the years 1977 to 1980 inclusive; and how many jobs were created as a result.

During the years in question, however, the Department of Commerce, Northern Ireland, agreed to provide selective financial assistance to a number of companies of non-United Kingdom parentage in respect of projects designed to generate new employment.
