§ Mr. Norman LamontThe Commission has instituted formal proceedings under article 93(2) of the Treaty of Rome against the Netherlands Government, which could result in the matter being referred to the European Court if the Dutch fail to take satisfactory action. I know that my right hon. Friend the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food continues to impress upon the European Commission the need for this damaging distortion to trade to be removed without delay.
