§ Mr. Rookerasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he is satisfied that the provisions of section 5 of the Social Security (No. 2) Act 1980 in respect of occupational pensions and unemployment benefit do not discriminate against Service penioners; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. RossiI am satisfied that the provisions of section 5 of the Social Security (No.2) Act 1980 do not discriminate against Service pensioners. Service pensioners who claim unemployment benefit while under 60 are unaffected by the Act. Those aged 60 and over with a pension exceeding £35 a week will have the benefit abated in the same way as that of any other occupational pensioner.
