§ Mr. RossiFrom 1 April 1972—the earliest date from which figures are available—to 31 March 1980, local authorities gave assistance with the installation of 130,341 telephones in England and 8,437 in Wales. These figures include assistance given under section 45 of the Health Services and Public Health Act 1968. Separate figures for installations under section 2 of the Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons Act 1970 are not available.
