§ Mr. Churchillasked the Secretary of State for Defence what is the anticipated effect on the defence budget of the proposals outlined in the Chancellor of the Exchequer's recent Budget Statement; and if he will take steps to reimburse the Defence Vote for the additional taxation in respect of taxes on petrol, diesel and aviation and turbine spirit in particular.
§ Mr. NottThe cost to the defence budget of the fiscal proposals in the Budget Statement is estimated at about £4 million in 1981–82. There are no plans to increase the defence cash limit on this account, although the cash limit will be kept under review.
