§ Mr. GoodhartAn index showing the average increase in the military salary for the past five years was published in volume II of the "Statement on the Defence Estimates 87W 1980" and will be updated in this year's White Paper. This will show that, in general terms, the military salary has approximately doubled since 1975, that average earnings have also approximately doubled in the same period.
