§ Mr. Deakinsasked the Lord Privy Seal why Her Majesty's Government consider it important that provision should be made in the proposed Law of the Sea Convention for participation by the European Economic Community.
§ Mr. HurdBecause the European Economic Community has powers in areas covered by the draft convention, notably fisheries, it is appropriate that it becomes a party to the convention.
