§ Mr. Iain Millsasked the Secretary of State for Transport if, in addition to his checks on foreign goods vehicles at ports listed on his reply to the hon. Member for Meriden on 2 March, he will consider approaching individual European Governments and the European 297W Commission where checks show vehicles of a particular country of origin to have an above average incidence of faults.
§ Mr. FowlerYes. I already draw to the attention of their Governments offences committed by foreign hauliers in the United Kingdom relating to the mechanical condition of the vehicle and also to loading, documentation and compliance with drivers' hours regulations and I will continue to do this.
