HC Deb 09 March 1981 vol 1000 c238W
Mr. Skinner

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what representations he has received from organisations seeking the introduction of a non-discrimination clause in contracts of employment affecting the disabled.

Mr. Peter Morrison

[pursuant to his reply, 5 March 1981, c. 170]: None.

I am informed by the Manpower Services Commission that, as part of its current review of statutory employment protection for disabled people, a discussion document was issued in May 1979 to which over 300 responses were received from a wide range of organisations, none of which advocated the introduction of a non-discrimination clause in contracts of employment for disabled people.

I am, however, aware that the Committee on Restrictions Against Disabled People is inquiring into discrimination against disabled people in all fields and I will give serious consideration to any evidence it may obtain on employment discrimination.
