§ Mr. Norman Atkinsonasked the Prime Minister if she now will set out in detail the policy of Her Majesty's Government in respect of the siting of the neutron bomb in the United Kingdom; and whether she would accept a proposal from the United States authorities to permit such siting.
§ The Prime MinisterThe Government would wish to participate in Alliance consultations before reaching a final view on any proposals the United States might make on enhanced radiation weapons. As I indicated on 5 February, because this weapon is primarily a deterrent to massed armoured attacks by the Warsaw Pact, it is unlikely that such weapons would need to be based in the United Kingdom.
