§ Mrs. Renée Shortasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will make a statement about plans for a regional network of computer information, curriculum development and teacher training centres; and when he expects this to come into operation.
§ Mr. MacfarlaneThe setting up of regional information and teacher training centres under the microelectronics in education programme will require the agreement of all the local education authorities concerned, but the programme will give high priority to securing the establishment of a number of such centres during 1981–82. Regional curriculum development centres as such are not envisaged, but the information and teacher training centres will be expected to maintain close contact with curriculum development groups in their respective regions.
