Pursuant to the reply of the Lord Belstead (Official Report, 14th January 1981, col. 42), how many old prison cells have been taken out of use (a) temporarily, and (b) permanently in each of the last three years?
§ Lord BelsteadRecords of individual cell losses, whether temporary or permanent, are not kept. At the end of the last three years the certified normal accommodation in England and Wales totalled 37,735 (1978), 38,494 (1979) and 38,930 (1980).
