§ Mrs. Sally OppenheimFollowing our review of the working of the Monopolies and Mergers Commission, the Office of Fair Trading and the Price Commission, we introduced the Competition Act 1980. This provides for investigation of anti-competitive practices in both the public and private sectors, and for the scrutiny of efficiency in public sector industries. An active programme of investigations and subsequent action under these powers continues.
