HC Deb 29 June 1981 vol 7 c247W
Mr. Morgan

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the approximate amount of money currently due to farmers (a) in Wales and (b) in England by way of value added tax rebate payments but unpaid by reason of the civil servants' pay dispute.

Mr. Lawson

I regret the information is not available because repayment claims cannot be processed during the strike. Under normal circumstances about £50 million a month is repaid to persons in all parts of the United Kingdom classified for VAT to agriculture.
