Mr. Gwilym Roberts

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what reductions have taken place in the statistical services available to his Department; what statistics peviously available will either (a) no longer be available, or (b) be available in a modified form; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Alison

The Government's statistical services in Northern Ireland have been reorganised and the professional post of chief statistician has been abolished.

Whilst no essential statistics required by the Government have been eliminated, the following list shows the changes which have been made:

  • Hen Slaughtering Statistics
  • October Non-Manual Earnings Data

  • Housing on Farms Statistics
  • New Entrant Teacher Qualifications
