§ Mr. Christopher Priceasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will publish in the Official Report the local authority borrowing requirement for 1980–81 (a) as estimated in the Budget Statement of March 1980 and (b) as estimated in the Financial Statement and Budget Report of March 1981, and if he will give the reasons for any difference between the figures.
§ Mr. Brittan[pursuant to his reply, 25 June 1981, c. 141]: The local authority account is shown in table 15 of the Financial Statement and Budget Report. In March 1980 the local authority borrowing requirement was estimated at £1.44 billion. The estimated outturn of the LABR in the 1981 Financial Statement and Budget Report was put at £2.5 billion. The latest information is that the LABR was £2.3 billion in 1980–81. The LABR outturn figures for 1980–81 are based on a borrowing inquiry. Information about income and expenditure is still relatively sparse. Some reasons of the higher borrowing are given in paragraph 12 of part IV of the Financial Statement and Budget Report 1981–82.
§ Mr. Christopher Priceasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will publish in the Official Report the estimated local authority borrowing requirement for 1981–82, showing in detail how this total is made up, together with the reasons for any differences between this amount and the estimated outturn for the local authority borrowing requirement for 1980–81.
§ Mr. Brittan[pursuant to his reply, 25 June 1981, c. 141]: I refer the hon. Member to table 15 of the Financial Statement and Budget Report 1981–82. This shows the detailed composition of the local authority borrowing requirement in 1980–81 and 1981–82.
